This healthy low-fat chocolate chip cookies recipe makes it hard it to just eat one cookie because they are so irresistible. To be honest, I am currently eating another one of these chocolate chip cookies as I type this. This recipe was well worth the wait. It took me over a week to perfect this recipe as I was trying to get it chewy, not to dry, and still have all the same flavors of the chocolate chip cookies that we dream of. Even though the holiday season is ending doesn’t mean you cannot treat yourself with these delicious cookies. – The Accidental Chef

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup amber brown sugar – you can use light or dark or amber brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted – I used I can’t believe it’s not butter light
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 tbsp apple sauce
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, blend together the flour, baking soda and salt.

In a separate large bowl, whisk the sugars, butter, egg white, applesauce, and vanilla together until light and fluffy.

Add a little bit of the dry mixture to the wet mixture at a time, make sure to be stirring in between adding the dry ingredients.

If the batter is still dry after mixing in with the wet, add just a 1 tsp of water, stir, and continue if mixture isn’t smooth. Be careful not to add too much water.

Then gently mix in the chocolate chips, careful not to over mix!

Once mixed, drop level spoonsful of the mixture 3 inches apart.

Bake 15-20 minutes.

Remove from the cookies from the oven and remove them from the pans to let them rest before digging into these cookies!
